• ABOUT THE ARTIST •
Aurora King is a Visual Artist working in Toronto, Canada. Often composing figurative studies, her concepts are most commonly conveyed through photo-based mediums and sculpture. An appreciation for authenticity was instilled in her through an early understanding of visceral realities. She often introduces themes that are suggestive to sexuality, synchronous with expressions of individuality; her concentrated insights into the sensitivities of the nude form, illustrate perspectives both innovative and influential.
Aurora attended the Toronto School of Art for independent artists where for several years she began to thoroughly study the human form through life-drawing and sculpture. Much of her inspiration has been influenced by the diversity of individuals she has become acquainted; those whom she shares similar perspectives and of whom are confident enough to venture beyond the boundaries of conformity.
Currently, Aurora is at work on an independent project and several collaborations. She occasionally works out of a studio in the 401 Richmond St. artist co-op and is a member there as well of Gallery 44; an artist-run centre for contemporary photography.
